User Manuals & Procedure Manuals

Manuals are the tool used for transferring knowledge and imposing standards. Sometimes they are a legal requirement. Sometimes they just help the business to run more effectively. They need to have purpose, and be designed to deliver business benefit. Examples of ‘business benefit’ are almost endless: fewer service calls, fewer staff errors, more sales through better product image, faster learning for new staff productivity, defined standards and quality.

Manuals usually have to target multiple audiences. For instance, for senior management a summary will often provide all the information required. For middle management, who may need to redesign a process, more detail is needed. For those who actually have to do the work, step-by-step task level instructions are required.

At MultiSystems we provide:

  • Focus on intended audience and purpose
  • Clear plain English
  • Good graphics and screen shots
  • Visually appealing and easy-to-read layouts
  • Logical step-by-step instructions
  • Relevant and imaginative indexing
  • A comprehensive glossary of terms

One of our skills is designing and creating manuals that cater for multiple audience levels. If a manual does not have purpose or ‘misses’ its audience, it will find a shelf, and remain there never to be referenced. In other words, it becomes a waste of time and money.
